When I worked in Singapore, I spent an hour each morning on the bus. At first I found it a real bore. Then I realised this was the only part of the day that was purely MY time. No interruptions. No hassle. Precious time indeed! I started sketching people, taking note of the various characters I’d see, listening to podcasts and generally loving it. This was the beginning of what has become something of an obsession. I carry a sketchbook everywhere and draw the people I see around me whenever I have the chance. It’s a scribbly-meditative stream of consciousness to open and close the working day.
